Imam Khomeini Empowered Women Status

Pundits and scholars believe that the Islamic Revolution under the wise leadership of Imam Khomeini granted special status to women.

After a glance study of the Iranian history, someone could easily that women took very active role in social activities following the victory of the Islamic revolution in 1979.


To highlight the significance of women role, an international summit on commemoration of Imam Khomeini wife was held on Sunday in Tehran. Speakers attending the conference emphasized that Imam’s spouse rendered numerous sacrifices during the struggle for the Islamic movement and revolution. 


Speaking in a conference commemorating Imam Khomeini’s late wife, Khadijeh Saghafi, on Sunday morning, President Hassan Rouhani said wives are among the most influential figures of social leaders, Mehr news agency reported. 


President  Rouhani asserted that Islamic Revolution of Iran has brought women to the social front and praised Ayatollah  Khomeini as the pioneer. 


Noting the difficulties of a leader’s life, president appreciated the patience and courage of Lady Khadijeh Saghafi during her life and her resistance accompanying Imam Khomeini.


Commending Imam Khomeini’s revolutionary approach, which restored and returned honor and glory to Iran, President Rouhani stressed his transcendental viewpoint towards women and added: “There is no doubt this perspective was influenced by good behavior and  distinguished characteristics of Lady Saghafi.”


Highlighting the active presence of women in Iranian society, Hassan Rouhani stated: “Islam does not accept concepts like first or second gender, men and women are equal.”


“Imam Khomeini paved the way for Iranian women to participate actively in the society and we are proud of Iranian women who are present at all social fields and levels,” he added.


Rouhani, further, emphasized that feminism and masculinism are meaningless in Islamic principles, saying “Islam’s focus is on meritocracy.”


President noted that within the frame of norms and principles, Iranian women have to be involved in all social activities and stressed their role in helping the government to implement the resistance economy policies.


The event was attended by several Iranian high ranking officials to celebrate the Late Khadijeh Saghafi's 60-year struggle against tyranny beside Imam Khomeini.


It is noteworthy that  Imam Khomeini’s spouse has been remained an intelligent backer and aide to the founder of the Islamic Republic throughout the history of the Revolution.


The lady Khadija described one of the most difficult and tough times of her life when the great leader of the Islamic world Imam Khomeini passed away and departed to heavens. She stood by her children and the revolution after the Imam’s passing away.


Late Lady Khadija is known as mother of the Islamic Revolution and her sacrifices are hailed and appreciated by all the entire Iranian nation and divine people around the world.


Lady Khadijah belonged to a religious family of Ayatollah Thaqafi and had leaned divine knowledge and manners from her father. She had stood behind Imam like a solid rock through all stages of the Islamic Revolution.
