The Imam strongly believed that we should preserve our ‘Hijab’ from childhood. In the house we had no right to commit any sort of wrongdoing such as backbiting, lying, disrespecting elders and insulting a Muslim. He was particularly sensitive about the sin of insulting a Muslim. Meanwhile, he would always emphasize that God’s creatures enjoyed no privileges over one another except in terms of piety and abstinence from sin. He would remind us of this matter right from childhood and would always state: “there is no distinction between you and the worker who cleans the house.”
