The education minister, officials, teachers and academics from around Iran gathered at Imam Khomeini’s holy shrine on the outskirts of the Iranian capital, Tehran to pay their homage and pledged to remain loyal to his divine ideals.
They also held a special meeting with Seyyed Hassan Khomeini, the grandson of Imam Khomeini. He also delivered a speech and listened to their problems and suggestions.
They also performed congregational prayers which were led by the grandson of the Imam Khomeini.
After the victory of the Islamic Revolution under the wise leadership of Imam, the Iranian education system made very significant progress and became one of the competent systems in the Mideast region. Iran has one of the highest literacy rates in the region and world
From viewpoint of Imam, the other quality of students, teachers, lecturers, researchers, scholars and professors is to decorate themselves with ethics, virtues and piety along high academic capabilities.
Advising teachers and clergymen, the founder of the Islamic Republic advised in this regard once said as following:
First of all, we should edify ourselves. When we call ourselves clergy, we should be heavenly and spiritual. We should introduce ourselves as the clergy and teacher in society. What happens if, God forbid, a teacher does something wrong? God forbid, if it grows more, the clergy will fail. Defeat of clergy is defeat of Islam. It is the clergy who have preserved Islam up to this level and who have saved, collected and promulgated all Islamic laws.
The great religious and spiritual leader of the Muslim world maintained that reliance on the certain power regarding the education will leave negative impact on all fields of life and make the nation backward for the decades to come.
The founder of the Islamic Republic wanted the education system to become progressive, expand its horizons, and extend fields of research and technology which can fulfill all social, scientific and moral needs.
Imam’s utmost efforts bore fruit in coming years and ranking of the Iranian school education, universities and its research institutes were raised among the world best recognized system.
Iran made an unprecedented level of progress in humanities, social sciences and medical fields over the past decades following the victory of Islamic Revolution and wise policies adopted by Imam Khomeini.
