Irrationality sparks extremism

An internationally-reputed scholar says irrationality and lack of intellect triggers extremism.

Dr. Mohammad Moghaddam, the head of department of international department of the institute made remarks during an interview with media outlets on Tuesday.


The senior figure of Imam Khomeini institute for compilation and publication of Imam Khomeini went onto say that lack of illogicality and irrationality has often fueled extremism. 


Senior cleric noted that all form of extremism should be denounced everywhere in each corner of the world. 


 Dr. Moghaddam also ruled out any place or space for inflicting insults in the society and put emphasis on observing the rule of law. 


Also during an earlier speech in late August, Dr. Moghaddam had said that the founder of the Islamic Republic, Imam Khomeini, promoted genuine teachings of Islam which were based on morality, spirituality, logic and rationality.


The head of the international department said that the father of the Islamic Revolution wanted to convey the entire world the message of Islam which is based on moral, spiritual and rational values.  


Hojjat al-Islam Moghaddam had pointed out that Imam led the Islamic Revolution to victory by relying on young generation, including men and women. 


The academic figure went onto say that Islam and democracy form very essential and inseparable pillars of the Islamic Republic system. 


He also noted that Imam attached great significance to people from all walks of life and sought their participation in all institutions. 


The world religious and spiritual leader also showed great respect towards mass public, the intellectual added. 


The academic figure highlighted the importance of people’s role, saying the participation of public in all fields could resolve several of the hurdles and problems.
