Jawad al-Yasiri, the governor of Najaf and other senior Iraqi officials paid their tributes to Imam Khomeini by visiting his holy mausoleum which is located on the outskirts of the Iranian capital, Tehran.
Speaking to reporters, al-Yasiri said that Imam Khomeini has been a great contemporary figure of the world free-minded and liberated people.
He followed footsteps of his forefathers such as Imam Hussein (PBUH) , the grandson of the holy prophets, in order to relieve the people from clutches of injustices and declines, he added.
The Iraqi official concluded by saying that the Islamic Republic made great progress following the victory of Islamic Revolution in Iran under the wise leadership of Imam Khomeini.
He also showed interests to avail from precious experiences of the Islamic Republic to make progress across Iraq.
