Ashura inspired Islamic Revolution

Grandson of the founder of the Islamic Republic say emergence of the Islamic Revolution under the wise leadership of Imam Khomeini was inspirited by the holy event of Ashura .

Ayatollah Seyyed Hassan Khomeini made remarks during a gathering a Shia Muslims from Indonesia who visited the holy mausoleum of Imam Khomeini.


The Muslim scholar went onto say that the greatest lesson of Ashura is that we should render sacrifices for the sake of divine values and moral and ethical values.


The grandson of late Imam went onto say that Imam Hussein (PBUH) raised awareness among the Muslim society which had gone into a sleep and plunged into decline.


The tyrant ruler such as Yazid had not committed to any principle of Islam and violated the basic rules of Islam openly, the academic said.


The intellectual said that Imam Khomeini strengthened the message of Ashura  by leading an uprising against the Pahalavi dictatorial regime by relying on Ashura values.


Seyyed Hassan Khomeini also concluded by saying that the massive Araba’een rallies demonstrate pure fruit of Imam Hussein’s bravery at very sensitive juncture of the Islamic history.


Imam Hussein and 72 of his loyal companions, including his family members, were martyred on Ashura, the tenth day of the lunar month of Muharram, in the battle of Karbala against the second Umayyad caliph, Yazid I, in 680 A.D. Imam Hussein was martyred after he refused to pledge allegiance to the tyrant ruler.
