Special session explores Imam Khomeini’s ideals

A special summit has been held to explore the views of the founder of the Islamic Republic about the Assembly of Experts.

The summit and special sessions were held on Thursday the Qom branch of institute for compilation and publication of Imam Khomeini’s works.


Several clerics, seminary and university scholars delivered lectures about Imam Khomeini’s views about the duties and responsibilities of Assembly of Experts at the summit.A number of intellectuals and academics cited views from the works, speeches and messages of the Imam Khomeini and deliver speeches and lectures in this regard.


This comes as Iran is set to hold Assembly of Experts and parliamentary elections.  Senior Iranian officials have urged all eligible Iranians to turn out en masse and vote in the upcoming polls in an effort to guarantee the security of Islamic Iran. In 1982 under Article 107 of the Iranian constitution, Iran’s Assembly of Experts for the Leadership was established to carry out its duties. At least 88 members of the Assembly are popularly elected every eight years and they should all be Islamic jurisprudents and highly qualified Islamic scholars. 


Iranian Revolution emerged triumphant under the intelligent leadership of Imam Khomeini  and established an Islamic-democratic system. The emergence of Islamic-democratic system resulted in progress of the Iranian nation in several fields and also strengthened the oppressed nations across the globe. Senior Iranian authorities have urged the masses to participate actively in the upcoming parliament and Assembly of Experts elections.


Since it establishment in 1979, the Islamic Republic has held several referendums and elections over the past decades as it attaches great significance to the people participation in social and political issues.
