Thousands of people are expected to attend the supplication ceremony at Imam Khomeini’s mausoleum which is located on the outskirts of the Iranian capital, Tehran.

The supplicatory prayer of Imam al-Husayn (peace be upon him), the Chief of Martyrs, on the Arafat Day is one of the famous prayers narrated and transmitted through authentic Islamic sources.

It has been narrated that Imam al-Husayn at the occasion of Arafat left his tent with submission and reverence. He walked slowly until he, accompanied by a group of his household, sons, and servants, stopped at the left side of mountain `Arafat and turned his face towards the Holy Ka`bah.

He then raised his hands (for supplication) to the level of his face, and recited the following supplication:

"A brief explanation and overview of Imam Hussein's Dua Arafah"

There is none worthy of worship besides Allah, He is all by Himself, He has no partner, His is the Kingdom, for Him is all praise, He has power over all things. O Allah, make Nur in my heart, in my ears Nur and in my eyes Nur. O Allah open my chest (bossom), make my tasks easy and I seek refuge in You from the whispers of the chest, from disorganisation in working and from the punishment of the grave. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the evils that come with the wind.

Arafah is the second day of the Hajj pilgrimage and the day after is the first day of the major Islamic event of festivity of sacrifice ( Eid ul-Adha). At dawn of this day, Muslim pilgrims will make their way from Mina to a nearby hillside and plain called Mount Arafat and the Plain of `Arafah.
