Minister of culture meets Seyyed Hassan Khomeini

The new Iranian minister of culture has held a meeting with the grandson of the late founder of the Islamic Republic in order to discuss a range of cultural issues and preferences.

Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Reza Salehi Amiri met Ayatollah Hassan Khomeini to discuss and review the current cultural policies.


Seyyed Hassan Khomeini also delivered a speech for the workers and officials from the culture ministry to outline cultural priorities in accordance with ideals of Imam Khomeini.


The minister and its accompanied delegation earlier paid a visit to Imam Khomeini’s holy mausoleum which is located on southern suburbs of the Iranian capital, Tehran


During the pilgrimage to the holy shrine, they pledged to promote cultural policies as portrayed in Imam Khomeini’s works and vowed to implement to the ideals of the Islamic Revolution.


Imam Khomeini, the late founder of the Islamic Republic, though his works and historic speeches and messages had sought vast public participation in all social, political and cultural arenas.


After extensive debates during two Parliament sessions on Tuesday, at the end of the evening session, Reza Salehi Amiri, the proposed nominee for the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance, received the vote of confidence with 180 Iranian lawmakers in favor, 89 against and six abstentions.
