Sri Lankan Parliament Speaker Karu Jayasuriya and a high-ranking delegation accompanying him visited Imam Khomeini’s shrine, which is located on southern outskirts of the Iranian capital, Tehran.

The speaker and accompanied delegation later held a meeting with Ayatollah Seyyed Hassan Khomeini, the grandson of the late founder of the Islamic Republic.

Senior Iranian parliamentarians, ministers, senior officials and Iranian ambassador to Sri Lanka were also present at the meeting.

Several bilateral issues were discussed during the meeting.

It is worthy to mention that Seyyed Hassan Khomeini had recently visited Sri Lanka and held meetings with senior officials and leaders of various religious groups there.

The victory of the Islamic Revolution under wise leadership of Imam Khomeini changed balance of oppressed nations and strengthened the developing countries across the region.

Ideals of Imam, who tried to unite all nations against aggressive policies of colonial powers, are becoming increasingly popular among followers of divine religions.

Imam raised awareness among nations and revived divine values and spiritual teachings at a very sensitive juncture of history when the world societies had been plunged into moral and social decline.
