Iraqi Minister of Sports and Youth Abdol Hossein Abtan has paid respect to Imam Khomeini by visiting his holy mausoleum in the Iranian capital Tehran.

The minister and accompanied delegation also laid a wreath of flowers on the holy shrine, which is located on southern suburbs of Tehran.


The site, which is visited by thousands of pilgrims, tourists and officials from across Iran and other parts of the world each year, has become a beacon and center of cultural, social and academic activities.


The Islamic Revolution under wise leadership of Imam Khomeini resulted in collapse of Pahlavi regime and established an Islamic-democratic system.


Imam Khomeini had also strongly denounced former Iraqi dictatorial regime of Saddam who was committing numerous crimes against its own people, and imposed a war against Iranian nation as well.


Following the fall of Saddam regime across Iraq in 2003, various religious and ethnic groups have now been included the Iraq democratic government


Imam Khomeini’s ideals and thought are becoming increasingly popular among truth-seeking people and devotees in various parts of the world.


The late founder of the Islamic Revolution revived the spiritual and religious values at very sensitive juncture of the history when the world had been plunged into social and moral decline.
