“In Athens, to represent Iran at Ancient Civilizations Forum: Dialogue among Civilizations for a World Against Violence and Extremism,” Mohammad Javad Zarif said on his official Twitter account on Sunday.

Greece’s Foreign Ministry will host the international Forum of Ancient Civilizations in Athens on Monday in a bid to promote cultural heritage and cooperation between the 10 participating countries.

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani had proposed the initiative in his address to the UN Disarmament Conference in New York on September 25, 2013.

In December 2013, the United Nations General Assembly overwhelmingly voted to approve Iranian president’s initiative known as "World Against Violence and Extremism (WAVE)”.

The initiative called on all nations across the globe to denounce violence and extremism.
