Palestinians across the world prepare to mark the 69th anniversary of the Nakba Day (the Day of Catastrophe), when thousands of their fellow Palestinians were forcibly evicted from their homeland by Israelis.

Every year on May 15, Palestinians all over the world hold demonstrations to commemorate Nakba Day.

The day marks the anniversary of the forcible eviction of hundreds of thousands of Palestinians from their homeland by Israelis in 1948.

More than 760,000 Palestinians were driven out of their homes on May 14, 1948. They are now estimated to number nearly five million with their descendants.

The Israeli regime has denied Palestinian refugees the right to return Since 1948.

United Nations resolutions and international law that upholds people’s right to return to their homelands.

Ahead of Nakba Day, Israeli military forces have shot and  killed a Palestinian man in Jerusalem al-Quds ahead of Nakba Day.

Arabic-language Palestine al-Aan news agency reported the Palestinian was shot near Bab al-Magharibeh after he allegedly stabbed an Israeli policeman there. The man was killed in the Old City of Jerusalem al-Quds.

Israeli forces were deployed heavily in the area after the incident, and they cordoned off the site.

The occupied Palestinian territories have witnessed new tensions ever since Israeli forces introduced restrictions on the entry of Palestinian worshipers into the al-Aqsa Mosque compound in East Jerusalem al-Quds in August 2015. Over 300 Palestinians have lost their lives at the hands of Israeli forces in the ongoing tensions since the beginning of October 2015.

It is worthy to mention that Imam Khomeini, the late founder of the Islamic Republic through his historic speeches and messages exposed the crimes being committed by the Israeli regime against Palestinians.

Imam also recommended senior Iranian officials and government of the Muslim countries to undertake serious efforts to highlight the Palestinian issues on the international forums.
