"As followers of Islam, we are stanchly opposed to war," Imam Khomeini once said in a historic message.

Imam said in another message as following: “we seek peace among all nations. We are not at war with any country regardless of Islamic or no-Islamic."

The leader of contemporary Muslim world highlighted that maintaining peace is of divine origin and all human societies are entitled to enjoy peace, security and stability.

Imam on several occasions stated that the divine religion of Islam has a logic and rationality, and is against committing any act of terrorism.

Imam believed that those who commit terror acts completely lack wisdom, reason and logic.

Imam Khomeini, religious and spiritual leader of the contemporary history, maintained that Takfiri terrorist groups were playing into hands of colonial powers and were furthering vicious agenda of spreading bloodshed and sectarian strife among Muslim nations.

Imam made a crystal clear that terrorist, Takfiri and violent groups have no true understanding of monotheism and genuine teachings of peaceful religion of Islam and were being used as a tool by brutal and colonial powers to advance their evil agenda.

Imam stated that someone who is real Muslim will definitely keep distancing himself from any type of Takfirism ideologies.

It is worthy to mention that some anti-Islamic elements have used these Takfiri groups to sow discord among Muslims, spread Islamophobia in the West and hatred against Muslims across various parts of the world.

These Takfiri terrorist groups which have emerged with various names such as al-Qaeda and Daesh have spread destruction among some Islamic countries and hindered their progress.

It is very important to pay attention to guidance and legacy of Imam Khomeini in order to confront all forms of terrorism, violence and Takfirism.

Imam had been a great champion of unity among all divine religions and Islamic sects and wanted faithful people to form a united front in order to confront colonial powers and defend the rights of oppressed nations such as Palestinians.

Following footsteps of Imam Khomeini, Iran has remained at forefront to counter terrorist and Takfiri groups and has taken solid steps to flush them out of the strategically important Middle East Region.

Following the footsteps of Imam Khomeini, the late founder of the Islamic Revolution, senior Iranian officials have always undertaken serious efforts through international forums to promote peace across the planet.

In December 2013, the United Nations General Assembly overwhelmingly voted to approve Iranian President Hassan Rouhani’s initiative known as "World Against Violence and Extremism (WAVE)," which called on all nations across the globe to denounce violence and extremism.

The Iranian president had proposed the initiative in his address to the UN Disarmament Conference in New York on September 25, 2013.
