Time and time again he would say that he wanted to remain the Imam’s son and supporter of his values and ideals.

After the Imam’s passing, Seyyed Ahmad did not accept any official administrative posts, saying, Seyyed Ahmad rejected any high-ranking post, saying, “If one has a motive and a goal, he can serve the system and the revolution even without an official position; nay he may serve better and more easily under such circumstances.”

Since he was of the view that the Supreme Leader’s wishes represented a religious and imperative duty, at the request of the Supreme Leader he accepted to become a member of the Expediency Council, the National Security High Council, and the Country’s Cultural Revolutionary High Council.

Given his experience and insight, his presence in these organs was very useful. His membership in the aforesaid organs went on till his death.

He was also a voluntary member of the Central Board of Directors of ‘The Imam Khomeini Relief Committee’.

Imam Khomeini’s passing in 1989 left a huge hole in Seyyed Ahmad’s heart.

During struggle for the Islamic Revolution, Seyyed Ahmad endured being separated from his father, who was in exile, for thirteen years. When he finally met his father in 1978 in Najaf, he threw himself in his father’s arms. From then on he never left his father’s side.

This happiness did not last for long as, soon after his elder brother Sayyid Mustafa mysteriously died.

However Sayyid Ahmad still had his father but he too left only eleven years after he was reunited with his younger son.

For eleven years enemies promised they would take their revenge and were counting the days when they would be rid of Imam Khomeini.

However they did not know Seyyed Ahmad well, he would ensure that the revolution would still be alive after the Imam.

Seyyed Ahmad Khomeini remained the most trusted figure and right-hand of Imam Khomeini during the tough years of struggle and following the victory of the Islamic Revolution in 1979.

Seyyed Ahmad passed on March 17, 1995. His services for the Islamic Revolution and the Muslim world will be remembered forever
