Divine savior will call mankind to monotheism, Imam Khomeini explained

The genuine and original teachings of Islam and all other divine religions have been seemed talking about a certain era when the divine-oriented governance would prevail over all types of injustices.

 Followers of all divine religions have firm belief and faith in emergence of a divine savior who could relieve the world from clutches of cruelty, injustice and inequality.


According to Imam Khomeini, the belief and concept of divine savior and reformer who would spread justice is considered to be a basic pillar of all divine religions. The founder of the Islamic Republic maintains that emergence of the current infallible Imam, who is one of the truthful successor of the holy prophet of Islam, forms essence of particularly Shia Muslims' belief which reminds us of faith, hope, and victory of good powers over evil ones, and ultimate fortune.


Imam Khomeini used to underscore importance of the 15th Sha'ban, the birthday anniversary of twelfth infallible Imam Muhammad al-Mahdi (PBUH), one of the descendants of the holy prophet, Known as savior-and described the event as the most significant Eid for all devotees, faithful people and believers.


The savior is a divine-oriented perfect man which bears spiritual characteristics and carries out tasks for God’s sake and will.


Imam Khomeini frequently through his messages and speeches cited from noble Quran as the belief is confirmed and well- established by the holy verses as well. "And We wished to do a favor to those who were weak (and oppressed) in the land, and to make them rulers and to make them the inheritors." (al-Qasas, verse 5)


The glad tiding of the emergence of the divine savior who would reduce sufferings of oppressed people, revive their rights and restore their rights, have also been manifested in several of Hadiths by the holy prophet of Islam.


Some of Imam Khomeini’s quotes in this regard come as following:


“The world will not come to an end until a man from my family (Ahlul Bayt) and of my name shall be master of the world,” the holy prophet once said in a well-known Hadith, adding, “The Mahdi will be descended from me. He will fill the earth with equity and with justice, just as it has been filled with tyranny and oppression.”


Imam Khomeini’s explanations, academic works about the divine savior has deep roots in basic Islamic sources such as Quran and Sunnah. He stresses that the divine savior is well decorated with divine wisdom, knowledge, mercies, virtues and characteristics.

The Promised Mahdī (may Allah expedite his glorious advent) is the essence of the creation, the inheritor of the prophet hood and the Master of the Age.  (Sahifeh-ye-Imam, Vol.9, page 24)


Abraham, the Friend of God, at the beginning of time and the beloved one of God and his offspring the Promised Mahdī (May our souls be sacrificed for him) at the end of time, proclaimed and will proclaim monotheism…(    Sahifeh-ye-Imam, Vol.18, page 77)


The promised Mahdī, as put by religions and unanimously accepted by Muslims, will proclaim from Ka‘bah, calling mankind to monotheism. (Sahifeh-ye-Imam, Vol.18, page 77)


The issue of the disappearance of the Imām Mahdi is a great matter that makes us to understand “Real justice should be spread in the world in its true sense.” (   Sahifeh-ye-Imam, Vol.12, page 408)


If the birthday of the Prophet is a great feast, the birthday of The Promised Mahdī also stands a great feast for the Muslims and mankind …. as Mahdī will spread righteousness and the globe will be filled with justice at its various grades. ( Sahifeh-ye-Imam, Vol.12, page 409)


Imām Mahdī is assigned to set right all these perversions and deviations. He will bring man from the abyss of depravation. It is said: “He fills the earth with justice after having been replete with tyranny.”  ( Sahifeh-ye-Imam, Vol.12, page 409)


The Prophets’ errand was to spread justice into the world. But they did not succeed in their mission. God has preserved The Promised Mahdī in reserve to carry out this mission when God deems fit…  His justice will embrace every aspect of human life, every dimension of man’s entity. ( Sahifeh-ye-Imam, Vol.12, page 408)


How auspicious is the birthday of the one who is to establish universal justice, for which purpose all the divine prophets (peace be upon them) have been sent!                                                                   (Sahifeh-ye-Imam, Vol.14, page 402)


How auspicious is the birthday of the champion who shall purify this world from the evils of the tyrants and scoundrels and will fill the earth with fairness and justice after it has been filled with cruelty and oppression!  (Sahifeh-ye-Imam, Vol.14, page 402)


How blessed and auspicious will be the day on which the rule of divine justice will be established throughout the world and when the hypocrites and the connivers will be eliminated from the scenes and the banner of divine justice and mercy will spread globally! (Sahifeh-ye-Imam, Vol.14, page 402)


How auspicious is when only the laws of Islamic justice will govern all mankind and when the palaces of oppression and tyranny will crumble down and the goal of the appointment of all the prophets and saints shall come to be established. And when divine plenitude will descend upon this earth! ( Sahifeh-ye-Imam, Vol.14, page 402)


With greetings and salutations to holy Imām of the Time, the last in the chain of Imamate, the sole ultimate administer of justice and the great standard-bearer of deliverance of mankind from the bonds of oppression and tyranny!


Greetings to him and to those who are truly waiting for him to reappear, who truly apprehended his reappearance and who saturate with the cup of his guidance and knowledge.
