Part 2

Question: To how much extent the holy month of Ramadan can play role in self-training and self-purification?

Answer: The benefits for observing fast are not limited to bringing good health and physical conditions for you. However, the possibility does exist that it can harm one’s health or even it could cause Peptic Ulcer (PUD).

The real objective of fast observation is that the humans must learn how to maintain self-control and get dominance over their lower-self animalistic desires during this month.

The humans are blended of both humanistic and animalistic qualities.

It is worth-mentioning that Nafs-Natiq (self-proclaimed) constantly guides the humans and helps them to proclaim their real personality and moves them towards God’s epistemology and perfection. It also guides you to avoid certain sins which can keep humans away from the truthful God the Almighty

On the opposite, the lower-self constantly attracts towards deviations, anger, low desires and self-indulgence and greediness. These are animalistic qualities and they're inspired by lower self and carnal desires.

You constantly combat with lower-self during the holy moth of Ramadan. For an instance, the food is available to eat but you avoid consuming and water is accessible but you don’t drink.

Some more examples can be presented as below:

The facilities of sexual satisfaction are easily reached, but you evade doing so. You also prevent yourself from back-biting, blame games, telling lies or looking at opposite sexes lustfully. It can be easily concluded that you persistently combat against your low desires throughout the month.

This month-long struggle, triggers purification and will direct us towards perfection. Ultimately, observation of fasting is of great significance and has great spiritual status in the abode of God.
