Imam Khomeini used to attach great significance even to optional religious duties

It has been recalled through a series of memoirs that Imam used to emphasize performing what is recommended and giving up what was disliked religiously.


This practice of acting upon Mustahabs (Recommended action) and avoiding Makrohat (the tasks better to be given up) was widely were widely observed by him.


Imam Khomeini used to get ready, combed hair and applied perfumes prior to performing the daily prayers.


It has been reported that Imam was very keen to perform his obligation duties in perfect manner, but he never took optional deeds as lightly. Imam believed that carrying out optional and recommended works can bring about proximity to God the Almighty and attract his blessings.
