Imam Khomeini emphasized the mutual respect for divine religions

Imam Khomeini, the founder of the Islamic Republic and great religious and spiritual figure of the Muslim World, used to emphasize on the importance of respecting and honoring the leaders and teachings of all divine religions.

Imam always strongly denounced the blasphemous movements aimed at insulting the religious teachings, symbols and sensitivities.


He invited the spiritual leaders of Christianity, Judaism and several other religions and invited them to get unite under the flag of monotheism in order to confront the conspiracies of global arrogance.


Moreover, he used to highlight the similarities among religions and called on all the followers and believer of monotheism to unite in a bid to tackle material, social and spiritual pressures and problems confronting the humanity.


However, it is worth-mentioning that he also took very firm stance against any sacrilegious or blasphemous move which aimed at insulting the holy prophets or divine scriptures. He used to condemn Islamophobia or any type of other prejudice systematically being spread by some extremist groups in the West.


On 14 February 1989, this great religious authority of the Muslim world, issued a fatwa against blasphemous writer Salman Rushdie for the publication of book the ‘Satanic Verses’ which made fun of the religious teachings and insulted the holy prophet of Islam.


The moderate and free-minded people across the world supported the Imam’s stance against Rushdie.


Analyst believes that if Imam’s instruction were taken seriously, no one could ever dare to repeat such sacrilegious moves in recent years.


The anniversary of fatwa comes as some hardliners Zionist groups are systematically spreading the Islamophobia and Iranophobia in the West and some other parts of the world.


In recent months, outrage has also grown globally over the US-made movie that insults Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) followed by sacrilegious cartoons published by French weekly Charlie Hebdo on September 19, 2012.


Muslims in Iran, Turkey, Sudan, Egypt, Yemen, Tunisia, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Malaysia, Kashmir, Pakistan, India, Iraq, Gaza, Morocco, Syria, Kuwait, Nigeria, Kenya, Australia, Britain, the United States, France, Belgium, and some other countries have held many demonstrations to condemn the blasphemous film.
Angry protesters across the globe demand an apology of the US government over the anti-Islam movie. The movie is said to have been made with the help of the Zionist donations totaling US $ 5 million.


Several pundits believe that Imam Khomeini’s instructions and dynamic thought can create unity among followers of all the divine religions and relive the humanity from clutches of anti-spiritual destructive elements and powers.
