Imam paid all seminary students equal stipend regardless of their nationalities and ethnicities

It has been recalled through a series of memoirs that Imam Khomeini used to pay equal stipend to all seminary students regardless of their ethnicity and nationalities.

Hojjat-ul-Islam and Muslims Mohammad Taqi Mottaqi, who associated with Imam for several years during his presence in the holy city of  Najaf, has recalled through memoirs that the Iranians and Arab seminary students used to receive more tuition fee or stipend assistance than the Afghans and Pakistanis.


The amount of the money was less as they could meet their ends for just 1o or 12 days and not for the entire month. 


Imam did not know about the matter until group of‌ Afghan students through a letter explained the situation to him.


 When the reality was brought to Imam Khomeini’s notice, he became upset and strongly recommended that all seminary ‌ students regardless of their nationalities must be paid equally. Imam rejected all types of discrimination.

Responding to the students’ letter, Imam wrote:  "It is not right, I will apologize and the entire situation will be compensated."‌‌


Afterwards, the Afghan students used to keep a copy of Imam's letter in their pocket and later they were heard commenting "If it were not  Seyyed Khomeini, we would have starved." 


By the passage of time, Imam also increased stipend constantly so the students can lead an honorable life and concentrate on studies.
