Imam Khomeini week kicks off with various cultural programs

The senior officials from the institute for compilation and publications of Imam Khomeini's works has held a ceremony to mark the beginning of the cultural week which coincides with birth anniversary of the late founder of the Islamic Republic.

The ceremony was attended by Dr. Hajjat al-Islam Ali Komsari, the head of the institute and other intellectuals and professors from universities and seminaries. 


A message  by grand Ayatollah Jawadi Amoli who stressed for promotion of unity among all walks of society was read out at the gathering. 


Hojjat al-Islam Komsari also put emphasis on finding out sophisticated methods to address and convey the message to the youth in an appealing and attractive way.


The week is launched on birth anniversary of Imam Khomeini and a series of programs are organized by the institute across various Iranian cities to promote the ideals of the late founder of the Islamic Republic. 


Only two weeks after the Shah fled Iran on January 16, 1979, Imam Khomeini returned to Iran triumphantly, on Thursday, February 1, 1979, invited by the anti-Shah revolution which was already in progress.


Imam, who established an Islamic democratic system in Iran, remains popular among the world Muslims and oppressed nations of the world due to his stance against global arrogance


Imam had well command over a range of Islamic and interdisciplinary fields such as jurisprudence, philosophy, mysticism and poetry. Several of his works are translated more than 20 living languages over the past few years. 


Ruhollah Mousavi was born to Ayatollah Seyyed Mostafa Musavi and Hajieh Khanum on 20 Jamadi al-Akhir 1320/ 24 September 1902, the anniversary of the birth of Hazrat Fatima (‘a), in the small town of Khomein, some 160 kilometers to the southwest of Qum.


He was the child of a family with a long tradition of religious scholarship. His ancestors, descendants of Imam Musa al-Kazim, the seventh Imam of the Ahl al-Bayt.
