Supreme Leader Hails Democratic System in Iran

Ayatollah Khamenei has hailed Rohani as a tested figure who offered great services to the nation prior to his democratic election.

Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has hailed the Islamic Republic system founded by Imam Khomeini, saying the affairs of the country are carried out by the people, the election is in the hands of the people, and everything revolves around Islam. 

Ayatollah Khamenei noted that moderation is the path of Islam and adherence to Islamic values and seeking God's approval will lead the Iranian nation to success.


The leader made remarks during a ceremony held to endorse Hassan Rohani for a four-year term in office as Iran’s new president.


Having been endorsed in a ceremony attended by senior Iranian officials in the capital city of Tehran, Rohani will take the oath of office on Sunday in Majlis with the participation of Iranian officials as well as foreign dignitaries. 


Ayatollah Khamenei has hailed Rohani as a tested figure who offered great services to the nation prior to his democratic election.


The leader expressed hope the new head of the executive body will successfully fulfill his duties and properly meet people’s demands. 


Rohani won the June 14 presidential election with 50.7 percent of a total of 36, 704, 156 ballots. Voter turnout in the election was 72.7 percent.
