Why does the Islamic Republic bear the costs of supporting the transnational Resistance? One of the most frequently asked questions in recent decades is whether supporting the Resistance in the region conflicts with "national interests."
Imam Khomeini resolved this false dichotomy by introducing the model of the "Islamic _Umm al-Qura_" , the Mother City and hub of the Islamic world.
In this strategic framework, defending the oppressed and supporting the Resistance is not merely a distant moral or religious duty. It is, in fact, "the defense of the front line of national security."
In this view, wherever the Islamic Ummah is strengthened, its central core, Iran, becomes more secure. Conversely, any blow struck against the body of the Resistance poses a direct threat to the security of the homeland.
Imam Khomeini resolved this apparent contradiction by advancing a principled framework centered on the concept of maslaha (expediency or public interest).
Within this framework, the interests of Islam and Muslims were regarded as inseparable from Iran's national interests.
For example, support for the Resistance was framed as "defending the front line" of Iran's national security, while Iran itself was portrayed as the central core and base of the Ummah.
