Zafrul Islam said Muslim Unity Week announced by Imam Khomeini plays pivotal role in elimination of Shia-Sunni discord and divisions.
The Indian Muslim figure made the remarks on Thursday in the Indian capital, New Delhi. His message comes as Iran holds international summit on proximity and unity among all Islamic schools of thought.
In an exclusive interview with IRNA, Dr. Zafarul Islam Khan, President of an apex forum of Muslim organizations, All India Muslim Majlis-e-Mushawarat (AIMMM) said: The “Muslim Unity Week”, designated by Imam Khomeini on the auspicious occasion of the birth anniversary of Holy Prophet Mohammad (PBUH), based on Quranic ideology conveyed through Holy Prophet, stressed the impermissibility of the discord among Muslims”.
He said that in the process it has enlightened the Muslims across the globe to be aware of the conspiracies of the imperialism and Zionism forces aiming to weaken Islam.
“At the time when these forces not leaving any stone unturned in fuelling the fire of discord among the sects of Muslims, the “Muslim Unity Week” has given a new lease of life and has awaken Muslims to unite,” noted the scholar.
He affirmed that efforts must concentrate on commonalities among Muslim sects and countering these attempts of threatening the Islamic nation by forming the unity and brotherhood.
“Preservation of unity and brotherhood among Muslims is the message of Holy Quran, Holy Prophet and also of Imam Khomeini. If Muslims across the globe act accordingly, no harm shall come to them,” concluded the Indian Muslim figure.
