He would speak with the people cordially

On most days the Imam would sit in a humble and small room in which more than a hundred and fifty persons were seated in hot conditions and which was lit by television floodlights in a situation in which the breathing and sweating of people acted like a heater and raised the room’s temperature. At times we would be so overcome by breathing difficulty due to the heat and humidity that we would venture outside for a breath of fresh air. However, in that same situation the Imam would sit for hours and meet cordially with the people and give a speech following each and every resolution.

I cannot forget Professor Motahhari paying a visit to the Imam in Qom just a week before his martyrdom. There were such a large number of visitors waiting to see the Imam that he sat from eight in the morning to eight in the evening at the side of the Imam’s room and yet did not succeed in meeting him till then. Finally, he managed to have a meeting with the Imam only after the Imam had finished his routine meeting the people.
