President visits Imam Khomeini’s ancestral house

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has visited the ancestral house of the late founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the historic city of Khomein.

The president and his accompanied delegation visited the site during a visit to Khomein, Imam Khomeini's birthplace.

Earlier addressing a large crowd of people in the city, President Rouhani stressed that Imam Khomeini showed us path of democracy and true Islam, and his dynamic thought and ideals turned Islamic Republic into a role-model.

It is worthy to mention that Imam Khomeini, the Muslim world contemporary leader, also opted to live in a very simply-built house in the Iranian capital Tehran even after becoming the founder of the Islamic Republic in 1979.

The sites attributed to Imam are visited by thousands of pilgrims, tourists, officials and intellectuals from across Iran and other parts of the world each year.

The victory of the Islamic revolution under wise leadership of Imam overthrew the monarchy and established an Islamic-democratic system in Iran.

The revolution put Iran on track of progress in several scientific and ethnological fields and defended the rights of oppressed nations.
