Imam Khomeini promoted mutual-respect in international relations

Imam Khomeini, the late founder of the Islamic Revolution, promoted the principle of mutual-respect in the International relations.

At the same time, he also stood against the aggressive policies of colonial powers and global arrogance and defended the rights of the oppressed ones.

The 13th of Aban which coincides with early November is marked each year and massive rallies are held to pledge allegiance to ideals of the Islamic Revolution and with its founder.

The special occasion of 13th of Aban or 4th November is marked every year to reject all colonial policies and students appeal the international community to observe the rule of mutual respect in the international relations.

A series of historic incidents happened on the day which considered as a focal and historic point in the history of the Islamic Revolution.

What happened on 4th November?

Imam Khomeini was arrested by the agents of Shah regime and he was exiled to Turkey on 4 November 1964 where he stayed in the Turkish city of Bursa.

Students staged a series of demonstrations against the USA’s interference in Iran’s affairs: The Iranian students made a protest against the American policies on the 4th November of 1978. Some of these students were martyred by the agents of the Shah regime

In 1979, a group of Iranian students, who were frustrated by US meddling in Iran’s internal affairs, took over the US embassy.

                

So each year, Iranian students as well as people from various walks of society stage massive rallies across the country to mark the occasion which has also been named as the Day of Fight against Global Hegemony.

Also this year, Iranian students and public masses took to the streets across the nation to mark the National Student Day on the 37th anniversary of the US embassy takeover by university students in Tehran.
In 1979, a group of Iranian students, who were frustrated by constant interference by Washington in Iran’s internal affairs, took over the US embassy.
This came a year after the Islamic Revolution led by Imam Khomeini, resulted in overthrow the former US backed Pahlavi Regime.
Imam Khomeini hailed the takeover as a “second revolution” after the Islamic Revolution in 1979 which happened against the wishes of some colonial powers and toppled the Shah of Iran.
The Iranian students who stormed the US embassy at sensitive juncture of history released thousands of secret CIA documents.
Imam Khomeini used to insist on the significance of establishing cordial ties with all nations.
However, it is worthy to mention that the Islamic Revolution at the time when the colonial and so-called superpowers had divided the world into two blocs of east and west.
After the establishment of the Islamic-democratic system in Iran, it was made clear to all diplomatic missions to respect all existing internationally-recognized diplomatic norms and not engage any illegal activities which violates the country’s sovereignty.
Some colonial powers who were hostile towards the newly established Islamic Republic and tried to meddle, were confronted by the Iranian nation.
Iranian nation, who had overthrown the tyrant and cruel of Shah Regime due to his dictatorial practices, was also opposed to any type of hegemony by external powers.
Islamic Republic system, which was founded on divine values in accordance with the desires of the masses, had brought prosperity, independence and freedoms to the Iranian nation.


Imam Khomeini defined mutual respect as very basic principle for bilateral ties with other states and countries.
Following the victory of the Islamic Revolution in 1979, the Iranian nation opposed aggressive policies of colonial powers in the strategic region of Middle East and elsewhere, and declared support for the rights of oppressed people.
Some so-called super powers who couldn’t tolerate the Iranian’s independent and sovereign policies launched a smear campaign of Iranophobia.
The Islamic Republic, which was against the US unconditional support for racial and apartheid regime of Israel, voiced support for the oppressed people of Palestine and defended the rights of Palestinians. The Islamic-democratic system also opposed the colonial policies of the then Soviet Union.
The great Imam, who always declared that Iran was a friendly country and was no hostile to any nations, strongly rejected the global arrogance’s colonial policies against the oppressed people.
