Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has appointed Zahra Ahmadipour as a new vice president and new head for cultural heritage and tourism organization.

Zahra Ahmadipour will  handle responsibilities as the head of Iran’s Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization (ICHHTO) as well.

According to a decree issued by the president, the appointment has been made given Ahmadipour’s dutifulness, scientific record and valuable experience.

President Rouhani has expressed hope that she would be successful in the path of serving the Iranian nation by observing the principles of the rule of law, moderation and the Iranian administration’s Ethics Charter.

Ahmadipour, who holds a PhD in geopolitics, an MS in geography and urban planning as well as a BS in geography,  is an assistant professor of Geography Department at Tarbiat Modares University and Director General of the Interior Ministry's administrative division office.

Ahmadipour’s appointment came after former ICHHTO head, Massoud Soltanifar, became the new Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs.

Soltanifar has recently won a vote of confidence from the Iranian parliament.

It is worthy to mention that Imam Khomeini, the late founder of the Islamic Republic, raised the statues of women following the victory of Islamic Revolution in 1979.

Iranian women are now holding high-ranking positions and play a key role in social, cultural and political developments.
