Senior cleric warns against sowing discord among Muslims

A senior Iranian cleric has warned against delivering such speeches or expressions which sow discord among Muslims.

Ayatollah Mohsen Araki, Secretary General of the World Forum for Proximity of the Islamic Schools of Thought, made remarks at a Press Conference in the Iranian capital Tehran.

He said that preachers and lecturers should avoid from expressing words which can spread divisions or strife among Muslims and such expressions could be dealt as an offensive legally.

We have already issued recommendations and done necessary follow-ups in this regard, the senior cleric noted.

At the press briefing, he also explained the details of this year’s international Islamic Unity conference which is going to held under the banner of "Unity, Necessity of Countering Takfiri movements".

Around 220 scholars from across various parts of the globe and 100 Iranian intellectuals are expected to take part at the event in Tehran, he added.

The developments come as Tehran is about to host the 30th Islamic Unity Conference during the ongoing Unity Week. Over a period of the whole week, all Muslims from various sects come together to celebrate the birth of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) together.

It is notable that as per a call made by the late Founder of the Islamic Republic Imam Khomeini, the week is marked each year as a period of convergence among Muslims. Imam Khomeini undertook untiring efforts to promote unity and harmony among all Muslims.
