The president has also congratulated Pope Francis ahead of Christmas and the new Gregorian calendar year.

Congratulating the auspicious occasion of the birth anniversary of the prophet of peace and kindness, the Iranian president has expressed hope that in line with the teachings of the prophets, which brought dialogue and understanding among nations, the world would witness stability and security and the end of the sufferings of the countless people plagued by oppression, corruption and terrorism.
President Rouhani also prayed that God bestow "happiness and prosperity" upon nations and governments.
It is worthy to mention that Imam Khomeini, the late founder of the Islamic Republic has been a great promoter of unity among followers of all divine religions. Imam through his historic messages and speeches sought to unite followers of all divine religions under the flag of monotheism in order to confront plots and conspiracies of colonial powers against the oppressed nations.
