February 14th is the anniversary of the historic verdict of Imam Khomeini calling Salman Rushdie an apostate. In such a day in 1989 Imam Khomeini’s fatwa along with neutralizing this issue, warned the Islamic governments and followers of other divine religions about the start of a complete propaganda and a media war from the imperialism regimes and the evil centers of thoughts and ideas of Western and zionists.
Imam Khomeini by his brave verdict, along with showing the power of Marjaiat (Islamic Leaders) and their willingness and historical intelligence against the conspiracies of the Islamic oppositions and standing for the Muslim’s sanctities and ideals, he managed the waves of anger and protests by the Islamic world and by showing the religious responsibility of every one and the dimensions of this dangerous act he made every one understand that he is standing against any insult to Islam, Prophet of Islam and Ahl al-Bayt (members of Muhammad's Household) to defend the Islamic values.
Today after nearly passing of two decades from this incident, observing and thinking about what has happened in the scene of encounter of the world’s paganism regime and the dear Islam, we can clearly see the deep understanding and genuine attitude and the great foresight of Imam Khomeini and it shows us that in the Satanic Verses controversy, Imam didn’t only see Salman Rushdie but he had saw a number of Salman Rushdies who were going to do their missions one by one to attack the Islamic believes.
The revival of Islam which started by the Islamic revolution in the February of 1979, got faster by Imam’s strict encounter against the Western movements in straightly attacking to Islam in form of a book named the satanic verses.
The wave that Imam’s historic verdict had made, caused the conspiracy of cutting relations between US and its allies and even the EU with Iran, which was made because of Imam’s act, to fail and after a while all the European ambassadors, especially the British ambassador, returned to their offices in Tehran.
