Iraqi official pays tribute to Imam Khomeini

A senior Iraqi official has paid tributes to Imam Khomeini's holy shrine in Tehran.

Hamid Abdollah, Iraq’s border security chief paid a pilgrimage to the Imam Khomeini’s holy shrine which is located on the outskirts of the Iranian capital, Tehran.  


He was also accompanied by his Iranian counterparts. 


Iran has provided the Iraqi government and public with great support to fight terrorist groups such as Daesh that are operating in some parts of Iraq. 


Imam Khomeini, the late founder of the Islamic Republic, had always extended his support for the Iraqi people against the then dictator Saddam Hossein. Imam strongly denounced Saddam warmongering politics and the crimes the Iraqi dictator committed against the Iraqi nation and regional people. 


After the downfall of Saddam regime, Iran has extended its coordination with the Iraqi government in a range of fields including political, social, cultural and business. Iran has also helped in reconstruction of Iraq and maintaining peace and stability there. 


It is notable that Imam Khomeini’s holy mausoleum is frequented visited by officials from different countries, and pilgrims and tourists from across the globe each year. 


Imam Khomeini ideals and thought also raised awareness and awakening among Iraqi public and people across the Mideast region to reclaim their rights and real status. 


The victory of the Islamic Revolution under the leadership of Imam Khomeini not only brought prosperity to Iranians, but also strengthened the entire Muslim community and oppressed nations across the globe. 


Imam Khomeini restored dignity to nations and revived divine and spiritual values in current era.
