“Muslims will never abandon Jerusalem”

Recently Israel has announced that Jerusalem is the capital of Israel. This according to Hussein Sheikh al-Islam, who is the head of the conference of support for the Palestinian Uprising, shows that Israel is becoming weak and is trying to avert people’s attention from this fact.

Hussein Sheikh al-Islam, who is the head of the conference of support for the Palestinian Uprising, stated the following regarding the recent announcement of Israel, which declared that Jerusalem is their capital city: “Israel’s measures show that it is trying to avoid the problems they have by changing the subject, but Muslims will never give up Jerusalem.”

Hussein Sheikh al-Islam further added: “The Israel today has become weak and is retreating. The recent measures show that they are trying to distract people from the problems they are facing….Jerusalem is the capital city of Palestine and it will stay that way. It is the first qiblah (direction of prayer) of the Muslims. It is the place where the Prophet (saw) ascended to the skies and heavens (mi’ra̅j), and Muslims will never give up Jerusalem and Palestine.”

The international advisor of the head of Islamic parliament said: “Netanyahu has done this so that he can get the support of the fundamentalist Jews and the Liberal Jews are upset with Netanyahu’s recent measures. However Netanyahu is trying to make the atmosphere of the Zionist regime a bipolar one.”

Sheikh al-Islam was asked, whether the Zionist regime have come up with the latest measures due to the signs the leaders of the Islamic awakening uprisings, were giving off, and he replied: “I don’t believe it is so. For instance Tunisia has been involved with the Palestine issue for a long time.”

He further stated: “In 1948 the Tunisian leader, who led the independence movement of Tunisia at that time, took the Tunisian people to Palestine to fight with the Zionist regime. At that time around 120 Tunisians died defending Palestine.”

Sheikh al-Islam also added: “In the latest exchange of dead bodies between Israel and Hezbollah, the bodies of nine Tunisian martyrs who had fought along Hezbollah were also released. However Bin Ali, who was still in power at the time, refused to allow the bodies to be brought to Tunisia, thus the bodies were brought back home only after the success of the Tunisian revolution. The Tunisian people held a great ceremony for these martyrs in order to celebrate their lives.

Shiekh al-Islam was asked about the roots of the Zionist regime ideology, and whether it was more than just a political ideology, and he answered: “The Zionist ideology is political. We must not mistake this ideology for one with religious roots…. The truth is that this measure and other similar measures have no specific roots apart from the want for power. This is because this region is a truly strategic region and being able to own it means having power from the Nile to al-Furat. These people, who are hungry for power and money, want this region in their hand so they can be the beloved levers of America and other arrogant powers.”
