Film to Explore Imam Khomeini’s Private Life

The Art Bureau plans to make a movie that will focus on the private life of the Founder of the Islamic Republic, Imam Khomeini.

The storyline has been inspired by a phrase from Imam Khomeini’s last will and testament, producer Manuchehr Mohammadi told the Persian service of Fars News Agency in mid July

"With a peaceful mind, a certain heart, a happy spirit, and a conscience hopeful for God’s mercy, I take my leave of all brothers and sisters to journey to the eternal abode," says the phrase.

"This phrase has played a key role in creating the plot. I think this phrase demonstrates the zenith of maturity, which dominated his behavior, decisions, and private, social, and political life," Mohammadi said.

Mohammadi’s son, Hamed, has been commissioned to write the screenplay for the film.

Mohammadi said that the viewpoints of the household of Imam Khomeini would be taken into consideration in writing the screenplay.

"In the past few years, several films have been made about the life story of Imam Khomeini, but I think Iran’s cinema needs to depict more of Imam Khomeini’s life and its different aspects," he said.

"We have seen the simplicity of his life in his home in Tehran’s Jamaran neighborhood. I prefer that this simple atmosphere is shown in all scenes of the film," he stated.

No shooting date has been set so far. The director and the cast and crew members will be announced later.
