Imam Khomeini, the late founder of the Islamic Republic introduced new perspectives about an-times divine savior. Imam in this regard said as following:

Imam Khomeini used to underscore importance of the 15th Sha'ban, the birthday anniversary of twelfth infallible Imam Muhammad al-Mahdi (PBUH), one of the descendants of the holy prophet, and described the event as the most significant Eid for all devotees, faithful people and believers.

Divine scriptures and belief in al-Mahdi

Citing many verses, Imam Khomeini used to maintain that the firm belief about emergence of the savior is well- established and confirmed by divine scriptures, the holy verses of noble Quran and other basic Islamic sources such as Hadiths narrated by the holy prophet of Islam and his infallible successors.
