We learnt moderation and unity from Imam Khomeini: President Rouhani

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has said that we have learnt moderation, hope and unity from the founder of the Islamic Republic.

The president made remarks during a speech to the domestic and foreign guests attending the 26th anniversary of Imam Khomeini at the holy shrine, located on suburbs of the Iranian capital, Tehran.

The president highlighted the significance of unity among all walks of people from viewpoint of Imam Khomeini.

He went onto say that the Iranian nation has leant the unity from Islam, Quran, Imam Khomeini, the founder of the Islamic Republic, and the leader of the Islamic revolution Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

 President Rouhani also called for unity in the face of the country’s foes and enemies.

"We need unity and cohesion," said President Rouhani, adding, "The enemies want to create discord among ethnic groups and religions... The first step is to be united."

Ruhullah Musawi Khomeini was born on 20 Jamadi al-Akhir 1320/ 24 September 1902- coincidence with the birth anniversary of Hadrat Fatima (PBUH)- in the small town of Khomein, some 160 kilometers to the southwest of the holy city of Qom.

Imam Khomeini, the great religious and spiritual leader of the Muslim world passed away on June 3, 1989.

Several pundits and analysts believe that Imam Khomeini restored dignity to the whole Muslim world and the oppressed nations around the globe. 

After decades of struggle, the Islamic revolution under the wise leadership of Imam Khomeini gained the victory. The Islamic-democratic system establish by the great Imam brought great status and confidence to the Iranian nation and rest of the Islamic world.
