Imam highlighted social, spiritual significance of Eid al-Fitr

Imam Khomeini used to extend his felicitations to the nations on the auspicious occasion of Eid al-Fitr.

The founder of the Islamic Republic used to send congratulatory messages to heads of state and people of the Muslim countries on the religious and cultural event
Millions of Iranians along with other Muslims in numerous countries are celebrating Eid al-Fitr, a joyous feast which marks the end of the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan. Muslim people turned out en masse across various countries throughout the world to take part in the occasions special communal prayers. The first day of the month of Shawwal on the lunar calendar is called Eid al-Fitr, which is decided when the first crescent of a new moon is sighted. During the Eid, Muslims attend communal prayers, listen to sermons and give Zakat al-Fitr or donations to the poor.
The great Imam once said in his historic Eid message as following: Fitr is the day appointed by God Almighty for the Muslims so that, by their congregation for the prayers and sermons, relevant to every era, they can find their path in relation to Islam and its bloodthirsty enemies. However, Friday and Friday congregations have lost their impact owing to the pernicious propaganda, leaving the Muslims bereft of Eid in the present circumstances.
