President highlights persevering Imam’s path

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has highlighted the need for preserving Imam Khomeini’s glorious path.

Rouhani while paying tribute to the late founder of the Islamic Republic Imam Khomeini underlined the importance of preserving his path regarding Islam and politics, Mehr news agency reported.

“Our task is to protect the glory which was brought to us by Imam Khomeini from isolation and negligence; we must preserve the glorious Islam that Imam interpreted for the people in the best way, as well as the political Islam with the power of leadership which Imam Khomeini offered to us,” said Iranian President Hassan Rouhani while paying tribute to the late founder of the Islamic Republic, Imam Khomeini on the first day of Iran's Government Week.

“Imam showed respect towards people from all social status, but gave a special consideration to the poor, the youth and the women in society,” emphasized Rouhani.

He considered the main purpose of the Islamic Revolution to be the establishment of the Islamic government and added, “after the formation of the Islamic government, the revolution will continue its path within this framework and it would be incorrect to think that revolution is opposed to the governemnt.”

Emphasizing that the country has achieved success due to the Leader’s guidance and nation’s support, the Iranian President continued, "supporting the country means supporting the nation and all should work hands in hands for advancing country in the arenas of science, research and technology."

Rouhani further noted that science and technology help the country to make more progress in line with benefiting from other countries' experiences.

Stressing that all revolutionaries should be bound to the rule of law, Rouhani hailed the role of people in all victories during the past three decades and said the success of nuclear talks is the result of the supprot from the Iranian nation as well as the Leader Ayatollah Khamenei's blessing.

He furtehr deemed the future of Iran brilliant, adding that the government will do its best to use the opportunity raised in the wake of the lift of sanctions to further develop the country.

The president also underlined government plans to enhance Iran's position in the international scene.

On July 14, Iran and the 5+1 group of countries finalized the text of the agreement, dubbed the JCPOA, in the Austrian city of Vienna. Under the JCPOA, limits will be put on Iran’s nuclear activities in exchange for, among other things, the removal of all economic and financial bans against the Islamic Republic.
