Hassan Khomeini condoles passing away of Ayatollah Khazali

The grandson of the founder of the Islamic Republic has extended his condolences over passing away of Ayatollah Abolghassem Khazali.

 In a message released on Wednesday, Ayatollah Hassan Khomeini, the grandson of Imam Khomeini described late Khazali as a great supporter of Imam and the Islamic Revolution, Jamaran News agency reported.   

He also prayed to God that his departed soul may rest in Heaven and grant his family and loved ones the patience. 

Ayatollah Abolghassem Khazali, one of the co-authors of the Islamic Republic Constitution and member of the Assembly of Experts passed away on Wednesday morning, an official of the Secretariat for the Expert Assembly said. 

'The Ayatollah passed away at his home in Tehran around nine o'clock in the morning,' IRNA news agency quoted Hojattoleslam Hassan Sameei as saying. 

Born on March 21, 1925, the late Ayatollah was the former member of the Guardian Council and head of Al Ghadir International Foundation from the outset. Before the 1979 Islamic Revolution, he was one of the leading opponents of the Shah regime who was imprisoned several times.
