Arba’een boosts unity among Muslims

Imam Khomeini, the father of Islamic Revolution maintained that the events of Ashura and Arbaeen create unity among all Muslim sects and communities.

After exploring Imam Khomeini’s messages and works, the researchers can easily jump to this conclusion that the founder of the Islamic Republic believed that the divine events and sacrifices rendered by Imam Hussein on the day of Ashura could bloster among all Muslim communities.

According to Imam Khomeini, the founder of the Islamic Republic, the holy months of Muharram and Safar have kept Islam alive and advised preachers to promote genuine teachings of Islam during this period.

Muharram is the month in which justice has raised up against cruelty while truth has confronted falsehood, and has proved that throughout history truth has always been triumphant against falsehood.

This comes as Millions of pilgrims have gathered in Iraq's holy city of Karbala to commemorate Arbaeen, one of the most revered religious occasions on the Islamic calendar.

Arbaeen marks the culmination of a 40-day mourning period after the anniversary of the martyrdom of Hussein, Prophet Muhammad's grandson and the third Shia Imam.

Over the past days, large crowds of Shia mourners from various countries have arrived in Imam Hussein's shrine in Karbala.

Tight security measures were put in place with a large number of security forces deployed in Iraq's holy sites in preparation for the occasion.

Imam Hussein (PBUH) and his 72 companions were killed in the Battle of Karbala 14 centuries ago. They were martyred after refusing to pledge allegiance to the tyrant of the time, Yazid.
