Senior clergymen paid homage to the founder of the Islamic Republic’s the holy mausoleum which is situated on the outskirts of the Iranian capital Tehran.
They pledged to remain loyal and vowed to abide by divine thought of Imam Khomeini, the great Muslim leader of the contemporary history.
They also held a meeting with Ayatollah Seyyed Hassan Khomeini, the grandson of Imam Khomeini who is also guardian of the holy site. The current issues were discussed during the meeting.
Seyyed Hassan Khomeini is widely respected and praised for his knowledge and devotion by seminary and university scholars.
The Assembly of Experts is tasked with appointing the Leader and monitoring his performance. Its members are elected for an eight-year term.
Iranians have recently elected members of Assembly of experts in recent elections which were held in late February.
It is noteworthy that Imam Khomeini though his messages, works and speeches used to emphasize the significance of the Assembly.
The Islamic Revolution under the wise leadership of Imam Khomeini in 1979 strengthened the democratic institutions.
Iran has held several presidential, parliament and Assembly of Expert elections since the establishment of the Islamic-democratic system.
Imam had been always been stressing on wider participation of people in elections, and all social, cultural, religious and political arenas.
Imam Khomeini had instructed to hold referendum immediately after the victory of Islamic Revolution in 1979. Iran has made significant progress in various fields over the past decades.
