Nowruz marks the beginning of new Persian solar Year which coincides with spring each year. The season of spring has been of great significance in Quran as it presents the spring as an evidence of life and as well as proof for the day of resurrection.
Several Islamic tradition also talk about the importance of Nowruz and describe it as a sign of God, Almighty’s power because the nature which becomes gloomy in autumn and winter season turns green and alive again in spring.
Imam Khomeini, the founder of the Islamic Republic, also highlighted the dive perspectives of the Nowruz, and stressed that the souls must be transformed during the Nowruz and a deep spiritual transformation must take place.
Imam Khomeini, the Muslim world leader, sought the attributes and manifestation of God, Almighty during the days of Nowruz. According to him, spring is not only the rebirth of nature, but a spiritual transformation must happen within human souls.
Imam stressed the combination of wisdom and rationality in order to gain desired spiritual change during this divine oriented days.
Imam Khomeini left several pieces of poetry which talks about deep transformation among mankind during each spring season. The mankind must cross form surface perspectives to deep epistemology and worldview.
People within Imam close circles says Imam during spring used to recommend reciting the holy book of Quran and supplications narrated by the holy prophet of Islam and his infallible successors.
Quran and supplications by infallible contain great treasure of mysticism and divine epistemology and can great help for spiritual transformation of human being.
According to Imam, civil liberties and freedom in the society were inacessable unless human gain the spiritual freedoms.
Imam once said during a message on the occasion of Nowruz as following:
“…transformation of hearts and souls must take place during Nowruz and mankind are recommended to attempt to associate themselves with God, the Almighty, after disassociating from the material world. The wisdom and rationality must happen in real sense as they could become capable of distinguishing between truth and corruption. Thank God, our nation has accomplished significant insightful and intellectual growth. I hope they could achieve the peak of insightful during this year Nowruz” (Sahifeh Imam, Volume 16, Page. 149)
