Iran stresses unity in war against terrorism

Kamal Kharrazi, who formerly served as Iran’s foreign minister, has met with Iraq’s prime minister to discuss regional cooperation.

Kharrazi, the head of Iran's Strategic Council on Foreign Relations met with Haider al-Abadi in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, on Monday.

 Kharrazi and high-level accompanying delegation discussed regional cooperation in assisting the Iraqi government in its fight against terror. He also met with Iraqi Foreign Minister Ibrahim Ja'afri.

The two sides stressed the significance of aligning regional efforts in the fight against terrorism.

Iran has been providing advisory assistance to the Baghdad government in the fight against terror.

Baghdad government forces backed by volunteer fighters have been engaged in the fight against the terrorists of the Takfiri Daesh group over the years. They have managed to liberate several militant-held cities and towns from Daesh terrorist group in recent months. The Takfiri Daesh terrorist group has been wreaking havoc in several countries especially in Iraq and Syria.

It is notable that Imam Khomeini, the founder of the Islamic Republic through his speeches and message used to staunchly denounce all kind of terrorism and violence.

Following footsteps of the founder of the Islamic Republic, Iranian officials have been providing a great amount of assistance to the regional governments in their fight against terrorist groups such as al-Qaeda and Daesh.

Following Islamic Revolution under the wise leadership of Imam Khomeini in 1979, Iran has maintained very amicable ties with the world nations.
