Daesh Takfiris’ defeat in historic city of Palmyra

several Iranian officials have praised the recent victory of Syrian armed forces against Daesh Takfiris in the historic city of Palmyra

Syrian government forces backed by volunteers wrested back control of Palmyra in the western province of Homs on Sunday.

This came following four weeks of military operations against Daesh, Syrian forces, backed by popular defense groups and Russian air cover

Russian military aircraft had hit nearly 160 Daesh targets near Palmyra over the past day in support of the Syrian army forces advancing on the historic city.

Senior Syrian officials in Damascus have said the victory in Palmyra shows the success of the army’s strategy in its battle against terrorists.

The Syrian army has pledged to intensify their anti-Daesh operations especially in  Dayr al-Zawr and Raqqah,” two provinces in Syria’s east and north, respectively.

Palmyra’s liberation has been considered as one of Daesh’s biggest defeats since it took control of swathes of land in Syria and neighboring Iraq nearly two years ago

UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon has expressed hope that the Syrian government will try to rebuild and protect the UNESCO-listed city.

Meanwhile, several Iranian officials have praised the recent victory of Syrian armed forces against Daesh Takfiris in the historic city of Palmyra. They have congratulated the Syrian nation, government and army on the recent liberation of Palmyra from the clutches of Daesh terrorists.

In an interview with Iran’s Arabic-language al-Alam News Network, Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian has said that there is no place for terror groups in the future of the Middle East.  “Syria will move forward on the path of fighting terrorism and the terrorists will have no place in the future of this region,” said Amir-Abdollahian, adding, Tehran “will keep up its firm support for anti-terrorism battles in Iraq, Syria as well as those countries facing terror threats.”

It is worthy to mention that Imam Khomeini, the founder of the Islamic Republic frequently used to denounce terrorism and all forms of violence.

Imam in his messages, speeches and works stressed the need to confront terrorism and militancy.

Following footsteps of Imam Khomeini, the Iranian officials have also adopted a zero-tolerance policy against incidents of terrorism. Iran has undertaken very serious efforts to stem terrorism from the Mideast and several other regions of the world.
