Leader calls to preserve revolutionary spirit

Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei says the enemies are afraid of the Iranian nation’s “revolutionary spirit” which is a legacy of the late Imam Khomeini.

Leader of the Islamic Revolution is addressing more than a million mourners who have gathered in southern Tehran to mark the 27th anniversary of the passing away of the founder of the Islamic Republic.

"The materialistic powers were always fearful of Imam Khomeini’s revolutionary approach and today they continue to pressure the nation because of its very same revolutionary spirit," the Leader emphasized.

Millions of Iranians are taking part in ceremonies across the nation to mark the anniversary.

Ayatollah Khamenei said Imam Khomeini believed in God and the people, and considered himself a servant of Allah.

“Pure and genuine Islam” must not be confused with the American version of this holy religion in the world today, the Leader added.

The Islamic Revolution of 1979, led by Imam Khomeini, forced out the enemies and became a source of inspiration for other nations, the Leader said.

The Leader also called on all Iranian officials, social activists and the entire nation to preserve the revolutionary spirit.

All Iranians must “remain revolutionary” as the Revolution belongs to everyone and should not be confined to certain groups inside the country, according to the Leader.

Participants each year renew their allegiance to the ideals of the founder of Islamic Republic and his successor Seyyed Ali Khamenei.
