Rouhani urges Persian Gulf states to act with wisdom

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani says countries in the sensitive Persian Gulf region must act with farsightedness and prudence.

In a telephone conversation with the Qatari Emir Sheikh on Tuesday, the Iranian president extended felicitations to Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani on the auspicious occasion of Eid al-Fitr, which marks the end of the holy fasting month of Ramadan.

The Iranian president stressed that the importance of improving mutual ties to serve common interests, saying that Iran pursues a “special and independent” approach to relations with Qatar. President Rouhani also expressed hope that the two friend countries would further improve ties.

The Islamic Republic’s keenness to boost amicable relations among Muslim countries, Rouhani stressed, adding that, all countries in the Mideast region and across the world must pursue wisdom and moderation in their relations. “We hope to be able to replace non-political approaches with political solutions through brotherly cooperation among Muslim countries and Tehran is keen for good and brotherly ties with all Muslim states.” Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, for his part, said the expansion of cooperation among Iran, Qatar and the Persian Gulf littoral states would serve mutual interests and spread friendship and peace in the region.

The Qatari Emir also stressed that there is promising prospects for Tehran and Doha's economic, political and cultural relations. It is worthy to mention that Imam Khomeini through his messages and speeches recommend to senior Iranian authorities to maintain amicable ties with all Muslim, regional and the world nations.
