Hassan Khomeini’s trip to Pakistan boosts Iran’s foreign policy

An Iranian diplomat says a recent unofficial trip by Ayatollah Seyyed Hassan Khomeini can help boost bilateral relations between Islamabad and Tehran.

Mahdi Sobhani, the Iranian Consul General in the southern Pakistani port city of Karachi said in an interview with Jamaran news agency that a recent trip by grandson of the late founder of the Islamic Republic; Imam Khomeini; received a wide coverage by the Pakistani media, including news channels, news papers and magazines.

Detailing the religious and cultural activities of Ayatollah Hassan Khomeini in Karachi, the Consul underscored that Geo News, one of Pakistan’s leading news channel had conducted an interview with the grandson of the late founder of the Islamic Republic to know his views on a range of cultural, social and political issues of the Muslim world.

The Iranian diplomat also went onto say that Seyyed Hassan Khomeini had also led congregational prayer of Eid al-Firtr which marked the end of the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan.

The internationally-reputed scholar also attended a feast with Iranians living there and Muslim scholars form Imam Khomeini University in Karachi, the consul added.

The popular media also widely covered laying of a wreath of flowers by Seyyed Hassan Khomeini at the tomb of Muhammad Ali Jinnah, founder of Pakistan, the diplomat noted.

It is notable that Imam Khomeini, the late founder of the Islamic Republic emphasized through his messages and speeches the necessity of maintaining amicable ties with all countries, especially the developing and Muslim countries.
