Summit to highlight Imam Khomeini’s view on people’s rights

A summit has been organized in order to reflect the view of the late founder of Islamic Republic on people’s rights.

The summit titled “People’s rights and religious government from viewpoint of Imam Khomeini” will be held on September 29 to 30 in the Iranian capital, Tehran.

The two-day academic gathering will be held at Imam Khomeini College and research center in Tehran, and will be attended by Ayatollah Seyyed Hassan Khomeini, the grandson of the late founder of the Islamic Republic.

Several research articles will be delivered by researchers and scholars familiar with Imam’s views will take part in a series of round tables scheduled to be held during the conference. The event is being held with efforts of the institute for compilation and publication of Imam Khomeini’s works.

By exploring Imam’s works, researchers have concluded that Imam attached great significance to rights as the term and its derivations have been used thousands of times in his speeches, messages and academic books.

Imam Khomeini established an Islamic-democratic system following the victory of the Islamic Revolution in 1979.

Describing the religious government’s responsibilities towards people, Imam once in a historic speech described himself as a “savant to the nation.”

Islamic Revolution changed balance of power in the interests of developing countries and oppressed nations, and revived divine values in contemporary history.
