Fidel Castro visited Imam Khomeini’s historic residence

Cuba’s revolutionary leader Fidel Castro had visited Imam Khomeini’s historic residence during a visit to the Iranian capital, Tehran.

The Cuban figure visited Imam’s simply-built house in Tehran’s northern neighborhood of Jamaran in 2001. Imam had opted to live there after becoming the founder of Islamic Revolution in 1979.

Fidel, who also visited Imam’s holy shrine which is located on southern suburbs of the Iranian capital, had always been deeply impressed by Imam’s divine personality and his great dynamic thought.

Imam’s holy mausoleum is visited by thousands of pilgrims, tourists and officials from around Iran and other parts of the world each year. The victory of the Islamic Revolution in Iran under wise leadership of Imam Khomeini changed the balance of power across the globe in the interests of oppressed nations and confronted aggressive policies by colonial powers. Meanwhile, in Cuba, schools and government offices will close during the homage to Castro who passed away on Friday.

Castro had been thought to be great admirer of the Islamic Revolution in Iran and its accomplishments.
