Famous French photographer visits Imam’s residence

An internationally-reputed French photographer has visited Imam Khomeini’s historic residence in Tehran’s northern district of Jamaran.

Michel Setboun visited the simply-built residence in the Iranian capital where the late founder of the Islamic Republic opted to live after the victory of the Islamic Revolution in 1979.

He also visited a nearby gallery where the objects regarding the history of the Islamic Revolution have been kept, and other parts of the complex.

The well-known photographer was welcomed by Ali Komsari, head of cultural and art department of the institute for compilation and publication of Imam Khomeini’s works.

He has travelled to Iran to attend a ceremony where a book under the title of “the days of revolution” will be unveiled. The book consists of several photographs reflecting the struggle for the Islamic Revolution.

The photographer documented repression of protesters by Shah regime, including the shootings in Jaleh Square which killed and wounded dozens on September 8, 1978 − a day that became known as “Black Friday”.

Setboun followed Imam Khomeini during his exile in France and he also captured through his camera the events which led to the final victory of the Islamic Revolution in 1979.
